Passing of Syd Roberts
It is with regret that I have to advise the passing of Syd Roberts in the early hours of this morning. Syd was an ex-Fire Police member of the Waitara Volunteer Fire Brigade a recipient of the Queens Fire Service Medal and was very active in the Taranaki I.F.E. group. Funeral arrangements are not known at this time and will be circulated when finalised.
Funeral Details
This is to advise you all that the funeral for Sydney James Roberts QFSM is to be held at St. Andrews Church Liardet Street New Plymouth (opp. Fire Station) at 1000hrs. on Saturday 31st. January 2009.
Syd was a Life Member and Gold Star holder of the Waitara Volunteer Fire Brigade and serviced between 1966-1992.
Syd was also a Life Member of the Taranaki Provincial Fire Brigades Association he also had a long association with the National Fire Police Association and had a very active role with the Taranaki Institute of Fire Engineers for many years.
I am sure you all join me in expressing our deepest sympathies to Syd's family.

Message from IFE NZ Branch President Brian Davey
With the passing of Syd Roberts, the NZ Branch has lost the support of a long serving and popular Branch and Taranaki Group member. Syd has stepped up and provided resources over the years for the times we have held our AGM and conferences in the Taranaki, a valuable contribution to the start of a successful run of events. We have appreciated the role that Syd has had in promoting IFE activities.
The NZ Branch and Branch Council extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Syd Roberts. He will be sadly missed.
