About the Canterbury Group

Our group in the Canterbury region has been very active within all aspects of what the IFE stands for and especially in regards to assisting student members with examinations and qualifications – we now have a dedicated IFE local group library for students that will grow in the coming years. We also run a number of events throughout the year ranging from talks and presentations to hands on practical demonstrations.

Our committee is made up of Firefighters, Academics and industry professionals and is very active within our area. Over the last 4 years we have successfully contributed to the running of 2 national conferences in Christchurch.

At this time there is no charge for membership to our local group – only that you must be a financial member of the NZ branch of the IFE. We try to run at least one fund raising event each year to assist with covering costs of events and also where necessary may include a small cover charge on a particular event.

Our Own World Champion

Ray Pratt has come in second in the 50 years age group in the Combat Challenge at the World Championships in Las Vegas. Ray's time was 1:52 min. The winner did it in 1:44 min. In the week that Ray has been here he has taken 15 seconds off his personal best for the course. Well done Ray!
